Woh Humsafar Tha by Abida Parveen

A beautiful rendition of Naseer Turabi's ghazal by Begum Abida Parveen. Abida Parveen (born 1954)  is a Pakistani singer of Sindhi descent and one of the foremost exponents of Sufi music (Sufiana kalaam). She sings mainly ghazals, Urdu love songs, and her forte, Kafis, a solo genre accompanied by percussion and harmonium, using a repertoire of songs by Sufi poets. Parveen sings in Urdu, Sindhi, Seraiki, Punjabi and Persian, and together with Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is considered one of the best Sufi vocalists of the modern era.

This song "Wo hamsafar tha" has also been sung by the new rising female vocalist Quratalain Baloch, also known as QB, for the drama "Wo hamsafar Tha" of a private channel of Pakistan "Hum". For sure abida had intriduced this ghazal but the latest revival of the song was by Quratalain Baloch.

Lekin ke yeh kya chain se soya na tu, na main..


Jab tak bikaa na tha, to koi poochhta na tha..

Who humsafar tha, magar uss say humnawaayi thi,
Ke dhoop chhaon ka alam raha, judaai na thi..

Suna hai ghair ki mehfil main tum na jaoge..
kaho to aaj sajaa loon gharib-khanay ko..

Adavaatain thi, taghaful tha, ranjishain thi magar,
Bichhaddnay walay mein sab kuch tha, bewafai na thi..

Kaaga sab tann khaaiyo, chun chun khaiyo maas..
do naina mat khaaiyo, inhe Piya milan ki aas..

Bichhaddtay waqt un aankhon mein thi humari ghazal,
Ghazal bhi who jo kisi ko abhi sunayi na thi..

Teri soorat se nahin milti kisi ki soorat,
hum jahan mein teri tasveer liye phirtay hain..

Tulsi aisi preet na kar, jaisay lambi khajoor,
dhoop lagay to chhaon nahin, bookh lagay, phal door..

Ajeeb hoti hai raahay-sukhan bhi, dekh Naseer,
Wahan bhi aa gaye jahan rasaai na thi..
